Sony and Firewalk Studios have unveiled the post-launch roadmap for their upcoming hero shooter, Concord, launching August 23rd on PS5 and PC. Rejecting the traditional battle pass model, Concord prioritizes rewarding gameplay through progression and completing objectives. Rewards will be earned through leveling up accounts and characters, ensuring a robust and rewarding experience from day one.
Season 1: The Tempest – October 2024
Concord's first major content drop, "The Tempest," arrives in October, introducing a new playable Freegunner, a fresh map, additional Freegunner variants, and cosmetic items. Weekly cinematic vignettes will enrich the narrative, expanding the lore of the Northstar crew. An in-game store, launching alongside Season 1, will offer purely cosmetic items, supplementing the rewards earned through gameplay progression.
Season 2 – January 2025
Firewalk Studios has confirmed a steady stream of seasonal content throughout Concord's first year, with Season 2 planned for January 2025.
Gameplay and Team Building
Game Director Ryan Ellis emphasizes Concord's unique "Crew Builder" system. Players create custom crews of five Freegunners, with the option to include up to three copies of a Freegunner's variants. This allows for strategic team composition tailored to playstyles and match challenges. Unlike traditional roles, Concord's Freegunners are designed for high DPS output, and diverse team compositions unlock special Crew Bonuses offering advantages like increased mobility and reduced cooldowns. Six roles – Anchor, Breacher, Haunt, Ranger, Tactician, and Warden – provide diverse tactical options.
