PS5 Pro Was The Center Of Attention At Gamescom 2024Several Developers Make Plans for Rumored PS5 Pro Release
Fan theories about the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 Pro have been circulating throughout 2024, fueled by a series of purported leaks earlier this year. However, the excitement intensified during Gamescom 2024, where developers began discussing the upcoming console more frankly. Some have even postponed their game releases to coincide with the PS5 Pro's launch, as reported by Alessio Palumbo of Wccftech.Palumbo shared an intriguing detail: "Without even being prompted by me, a developer who preferred to remain anonymous mentioned they had received the specifications for the PS5 Pro and were confident that Unreal Engine 5 would perform substantially better on the new hardware compared to the standard PlayStation 5."
This disclosure mirrors a recent report from the Italian gaming site Multiplayer, which noted in a live stream that a developer had delayed their game’s release to align with the rumored PS5 Pro launch. Palumbo further remarked, "Considering the information shared by Multiplayer, I'm confident this isn't the same developer. Additionally, the studio I spoke with isn't a large one, suggesting that a broad range of game developers already possess the PS5 Pro's specifications."PS5 Pro Launching Soon, Analyst Says
Reinforcing Palumbo’s suspicions and the insights shared by developers at Gamescom 2024, analyst William R. Aguilar implied on X earlier in July that Sony is likely to unveil the PS5 Pro later this year. Aguilar predicted that this announcement might occur during the unconfirmed State of Play in September 2024, suggesting that Sony will need to act swiftly to avoid impacting sales of the current PS5.
This timeframe would be consistent with the PlayStation 4 Pro’s release strategy in 2016, where the console was announced on September 7 and launched just two months later on November 10. Palumbo indicated that if Sony follows a similar pattern, "it is reasonable to expect an official announcement soon."
