Phantom Blade Zero: 20-30 Hour Playtime, Four Difficulty Settings, and More Revealed
Recent updates on Phantom Blade Zero reveal a diverse range of gameplay features and a significant playtime estimate. The game will offer four difficulty levels – easy, normal, hard, and extremely hard – distancing it from the "Soulslike" comparisons initially drawn due to its aesthetic and combat style.
Debunking the Soulslike Comparison:
Game Director Soulframe clarified via a tweet that Phantom Blade Zero isn't aiming for a Soulslike experience. The goal is "combo-driven, heart-pumping combat that is hectic, rewarding, and exhilarating," he stated. While the game's dark world and boss fights drew Soulslike comparisons, Soulframe confirmed inspiration from the genre's map design and exploration but emphasized that the similarities end there, describing the gameplay as "Ninja Gaiden Combat on a Souls Game Map."
Extensive Gameplay Details:
Players can expect:
- Over 30 primary and 20 secondary weapons, each with unique combat properties.
- A main story estimated at 20-30 hours, plus an additional 20-30 hours of side content.
- Multi-phase boss fights, allowing players to resume from the second phase upon death.
- A "Li Wulin" mode for re-fighting bosses and unlocking hidden encounters.
- A mechanic influencing the game's ending, with the details yet to be revealed.
Year of the Snake Gameplay Trailer:
The recently released "Year of the Snake Gameplay Trailer" showcased Soul, the protagonist, battling the "Chief Disciple of The Seven Stars," and highlighted weapons like the "Weapon No.13 Soft Snake Sword" and "Weapon No.27 White Serpent and Crimson Viper." The trailer hints at a 2025 release date announcement. Further announcements are promised by Soulframe on the game's official Twitter (X) account.
Phantom Blade Zero is currently under development for PlayStation 5, with a PC release also planned. No official release date has been announced. Stay tuned for updates on our Phantom Blade Zero page.
