During the eagerly anticipated Silent Hill Transmission livestream on March 14, Konami unveiled Silent Hill f, a thrilling new addition to the iconic horror series. The narrative of the game is being meticulously crafted by Ryukishi07, the celebrated creator behind the psychological horror visual novel When They Cry (also known as Higurashi no Naku Koro ni). Renowned for his skill in weaving suspense with intricate storytelling, Ryukishi07’s involvement has ignited a wave of excitement among fans of both the Silent Hill franchise and his previous works.
Adding to the anticipation, the game's soundtrack will feature contributions from acclaimed anime composers Dai and Xaki. Their collaboration with industry veterans Akira Yamaoka and Kensuke Inage, who have long shaped the auditory identity of the Silent Hill series, promises to elevate the game’s atmosphere to new heights.

Ryukishi07 shared insights into his decision to bring Dai and Xaki aboard, explaining that their music has consistently enhanced his past projects. He emphasized their crucial role in amplifying key moments within Silent Hill f:
These two musicians have always helped make my projects better. For Silent Hill f, I specifically asked them to focus on scenes I wanted to make particularly expressive.
Interestingly, Dai’s journey into the industry began in an unconventional way. As a fan, he once wrote a letter to Ryukishi07 criticizing the use of free music in one of his games. Instead of dismissing the critique, Ryukishi07 challenged him to create his own soundtrack. Impressed by Dai’s talent, the team eventually incorporated his work into their projects, marking the start of a fruitful partnership.
Silent Hill f is currently in development for PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. With its blend of Ryukishi07’s gripping storytelling and the evocative compositions of Dai and Xaki, the game aims to deliver a haunting experience that pushes the boundaries of horror gaming.
As fans eagerly await its release, the collaboration between these creative minds highlights the potential of Silent Hill f to become a standout entry in the legendary series.
