Despite being somewhat overshadowed by other titles, Halo Infinite continues to receive content updates that keep the game fresh and engaging. Recently, the development team introduced a new competitive game mode called S&D Extraction, which promises to offer players a unique and strategically deep experience.
S&D Extraction takes inspiration from Valve's Counter-Strike but adds its own distinctive twists. In this mode, players are divided into two teams of four: one team acts as attackers, responsible for planting a device at a designated location, while the other team defends. After each round, the teams switch roles, adding a layer of strategy and variety. To win, a team must secure six rounds of victory.
One of the standout features of S&D Extraction is its comprehensive economic system. At the beginning of each round, players can purchase equipment using in-game currency earned through completing objectives. The prices of these items are not static; they fluctuate based on the team's performance throughout the match. All gear purchased vanishes at the end of each round, requiring players to strategize their spending carefully.
The cost of items is directly tied to their effectiveness and potential impact within a round, with more powerful items commanding higher prices. Players can anticipate finding cheaper items available in the early rounds, with costs increasing for mid-match options, and potentially reaching even higher prices towards the end of the game if they manage their earnings wisely. Additionally, players have the option to spend currency to respawn after being eliminated, adding another strategic element to the gameplay.
Scheduled for launch in Halo Infinite in 2025, S&D Extraction is poised to deliver a dynamic and engaging competitive experience that will captivate fans of the Halo franchise.
