Sony and Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, a free update for God of War Ragnarök arriving next week. This update features in-game equipment themed after one of the franchise's most iconic outfits.
Detailed in a PlayStation Blog post, the Dark Odyssey collection is a highlight of Sony's God of War 20th-anniversary celebrations. Available for free on PlayStation 5 and PC starting March 20th, it offers a suite of cosmetic items for all God of War Ragnarök owners.
The Dark Odyssey aesthetic boasts a sleek black-and-gold design, giving Kratos, Atreus, and Freya stylish new looks. The update includes cosmetic sets for all three characters, along with various shields and weapons.
The centerpiece is undoubtedly Kratos' Dark Odyssey appearance and armor set, a recreation of an outfit previously only obtainable by completing God of War II on God Mode. Players can acquire this content from any Lost Items chest in the main game or directly in Ragnarök's Valhalla mode after the update. The patch also introduces the ability to customize Kratos' weapon appearances without affecting their abilities.

God of War Ragnarök, released in late 2022, receives this update as part of a larger celebration of the franchise's 20th anniversary. Sony's plans also include social media assets (downloadable [here]), an art showcase in collaboration with Los Angeles' Gallery Nucleus, new merchandise, sales, multiple vinyl releases, and more.
"On behalf of everyone at Santa Monica Studio, we are immeasurably grateful to have had the chance to build the legacy of this series with and for you, the fans of God of War," the studio stated.
