Gamers Accuse Mythical Creators of Deception

Game Science's explanation for the absence of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox Series S has sparked considerable player debate. Studio president Yokar-Feng Ji cited the console's limited 8GB usable RAM (after accounting for system usage) as the primary obstacle, claiming optimization for such constraints is incredibly challenging and demands extensive expertise.

However, this explanation has been met with widespread skepticism. Many gamers suspect an exclusive deal with Sony is the true reason behind the Series S omission, while others accuse the developers of insufficient effort, pointing to successful Series S ports of graphically demanding titles.

The timing of this revelation also raises questions. Players are questioning why the Series S limitations, known since 2020 (the year of the console's launch and Black Myth: Wukong's announcement), are only now being highlighted, years into the game's development.

Representative player comments highlight the prevailing disbelief:

  • "This contradicts earlier reports. Game Science announced the Xbox release date at TGA 2023 – surely they knew the Series S specs then?"
  • "Lazy developers and a mediocre graphics engine."
  • "I don't buy it."
  • "Games like Indiana Jones, Starfield, and Hellblade 2 run perfectly on Series S, proving the issue lies with the developers."
  • "Just another excuse."

The lack of a definitive answer regarding a potential Xbox Series X|S release further fuels the ongoing controversy. The situation leaves players uncertain about the future of Black Myth: Wukong on Microsoft's platforms.
