Ever since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with speculation about the mysteries it might unravel. However, at the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN discovered one mystery that won't be solved by the DLC: the base game's surprising final cutscene.
For those who haven't yet experienced the ending of Lies of P, here's a spoiler-free summary: the final cutscene teases a direction for the Lies of P universe that has sparked intense fan speculation. This twist, while intriguing, will not be explained in the upcoming Overture DLC. Lies of P director Jiwon Choi confirmed this, adding only, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."
“What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you.”

The cutscene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the so-called Dorothy scene. As detailed here, the scene shows Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning, “find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy.” The camera then reveals Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, identifiable by her iconic striped socks and ruby slippers. This suggests that future developments in the Lies of P universe might intertwine with other public domain "fairy tales," though how and why remain unanswered questions, and it won't be addressed in Overture.SPOILERS END HERE.
While the final cutscene remains a mystery, Choi did provide some insights into what fans can expect from Overture. He encouraged players to replay the base game, suggesting that it contains clues about the DLC's content:“When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience,” Choi said. “A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion.”
Additionally, Choi revealed that Overture is expected to take experienced players between 15-20 hours to complete. It will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter in the game and can be played through to the end. As previously announced, Overture is a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat before its fall. The DLC promises new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to preserve the surprise for players.
