ROME: Total War enthusiasts on Android, rejoice! Feral Interactive has just rolled out the massive Imperium Update, enhancing your strategic gameplay with a host of new features and improvements. This update, which hit Android devices first, will soon make its way to the standalone expansions Barbarian Invasion and Alexander next week.
What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?
The Imperium Update draws inspiration from Feral’s more recent mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE, introducing some of their best features to ROME: Total War. Players can now enjoy three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection, which offer enhanced command over units and more precise battles. The ability to simply tap and hold to move your armies, agents, or fleets eliminates the need for manual path-dragging, streamlining your gameplay experience.
Positioning Mode allows for fine-tuning unit placements with a tap-and-hold action, while the Group Grid feature simplifies managing unit groups through a collapsible selection menu. Additionally, Melee Mode enables ranged units to switch to close combat when necessary, adding tactical depth to your strategies.
A standout feature of the update is the Command Slowdown, which automatically slows the game when issuing complex orders, helping you maintain control in the heat of battle. For the first time, keyboard and mouse support is now available for Android and iPad users, enhancing the control options even further.
The minimap in ROME: Total War has been revamped to mirror the intuitive design found in MEDIEVAL II, with smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button allows you to quickly revert to the default view, making it easier to keep an eye on the entire battlefield.
The Imperium Update is now live and available for download via the Google Play Store for all ROME: Total War Android users. Keep an eye out for the updates coming to Barbarian Invasion and Alexander next week, and dive into these enhancements as soon as they're released.
