Earlier this year, Dell revitalized the iconic Alienware Area-51 lineup of prebuilt gaming PCs. Initially, the only graphics card option available was the RTX 5080. However, the game has changed. Now, you have the exciting opportunity to configure your Alienware Area-51 with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU and the highly anticipated Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, starting at just $5,499.99. The best part? You won't have to wait long; Dell promises an early April ship date.

The $5,500 "base" configuration for the Alienware Area-51 gaming PC, equipped with the RTX 5090 GPU, is anything but basic. It delivers top-tier performance with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and a spacious 2TB NVMe SSD. The Core Ultra 9 285K is Intel's latest flagship CPU, offering outstanding performance for both gaming and workstation tasks. While it may not provide the leap we hoped for from the i9-14900K, it's currently the best Intel has to offer. The system is cooled by a robust 360mm all-in-one liquid cooler and powered by a formidable 1,500W 80Plus Platinum-rated power supply.
New for 2025: The Alienware Area-51 Chassis
Dell unveiled the revamped Alienware Area-51 gaming PC at CES 2025. The new chassis maintains a familiar look but features significant aesthetic and cooling enhancements, along with updated components. The I/O panel is now positioned at the top of the case for better access, and the tempered glass window extends across the entire side panel, eliminating the need for side vents. Air intakes are strategically placed at the bottom and front of the case, promoting a positive airflow design that reduces dust accumulation inside. The internal components have been upgraded with a new motherboard, faster RAM, and a more powerful power supply to support the latest CPUs and GPUs.
The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has emerged as the pinnacle of consumer GPUs on the market. While Nvidia has focused on software updates, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology to enhance gameplay, the RTX 5090 still delivers a remarkable 25%-30% increase in raw raster performance over the RTX 4090. It also boasts more and faster VRAM, with 32GB of GDDR7 compared to the 4090's 24GB of GDDR6. However, finding this GPU at its retail price is challenging, as it often sells for $3,500-$4,000 on eBay.
Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 FE Review by Jackie Thomas
"The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has officially claimed the performance crown from the RTX 4090, though the generational leap is smaller than expected. In traditional non-AI gaming, the RTX 5090 offers one of the smallest performance uplifts we've seen recently. However, in games that support it, DLSS 4 significantly boosts performance – though you must accept that 75% of the frames are generated by AI."
