Koei Tecmo's recent financial report unveils an ambitious game development pipeline, promising several releases from late 2024 onward. Key highlights include a new Dynasty Warriors title and a currently unannounced AAA game.
Omega Force, a Koei Tecmo studio, is developing "Dynasty Warriors Origins," a tactical action game set during China's Three Kingdoms period. This marks the first mainline Dynasty Warriors title since 2018 and is slated for a 2025 release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game features a "Nameless Hero" protagonist.
Alongside this, Koei Tecmo is preparing "Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" for an October 2024 global launch on PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC, celebrating the original's 20th anniversary. A sequel to the 2020 RPG, "FAIRY TAIL 2," is also anticipated for a winter release across the same platforms.
The report further confirms development of multiple unannounced titles, including at least one AAA game. This aligns with Koei Tecmo's stated goal of establishing a consistent AAA game production pipeline. The company's Q1 2024 profits were significantly boosted by continued sales of Rise of the Ronin, fueling their ambition to become a leading AAA developer. The establishment of a dedicated AAA studio underscores this commitment to producing high-budget, large-scale titles on an ongoing basis. While details on the unannounced AAA project remain scarce, its existence signals Koei Tecmo's significant investment in the high-end gaming market.
