Marvel Rivals Announces Balancing Changes in Season 1

Summary

  • Season 1 of Marvel Rivals will introduce Dracula as the main villain and add The Fantastic Four to the roster.
  • The battle pass for Season 1 will cost $10 and include 10 skins, with players earning 600 Lattice and 600 Units while progressing.
  • Balancing changes in Season 1 will nerf Hela and Hawkeye, while boosting mobility-based Vanguards like Captain America and Venom.

NetEase Games has released a new developer update detailing balancing changes coming in Season 1 of Marvel Rivals. The upcoming season will feature Dracula as the main villain and add The Fantastic Four to Marvel Rivals' ever-expanding roster. Many fans are excited to jump into the game when Season 1: Eternal Night Falls releases on January 10 at 1 AM PST.

In the same developer post, NetEase Games shared that Season 1 will introduce three new maps, a new game mode called Doom Match, and a robust battle pass with 10 skins. The battle pass will cost 990 lattice, which roughly translates to $10. While completing objectives, players will earn 600 Lattice and 600 Units by progressing through the game's pass. Players can also expect to see Mister Fantastic and The Invisible Woman join Marvel Rivals at the beginning of the season, while Human Torch and The Thing will arrive six or seven weeks later.

Marvel Rivals has released its newest Dev Vision video, sharing details about balance changes in the upcoming Season 1: Eternal Night Falls. Hela and Hawkeye will be receiving nerfs in Marvel Rivals, as the characters have proven to be too powerful throughout Season 0. The two were often the target of hero bans in higher ranks of play in the popular hero shooter. The developers stated that they would like to see better performance from mobility-based Vanguards who rush into battle. So, characters like Captain America and Venom will be receiving buffs to aid in this effort.

Marvel Rivals Reveals Balancing Changes for Venom, Hawkeye, Wolverine, and More

Wolverine and Storm will be receiving buffs in Marvel Rivals, encouraging players to utilize the mutants for specific strategies. Previously, many players called for buffs or complete reworks for the iconic heroes, even suggesting Wolverine should be changed into a Vanguard. Cloak and Dagger will also be receiving boosts, as the developers want to see the duo work with a variety of team compositions. The developers also stated they will be making changes to Jeff the Land Shark in Marvel Rivals, as players have reported that his early warning signals don't align with his ultimate's actual hit box. While some players have expressed that Jeff's ultimate ability feels too overpowered, NetEase Games has not announced any major changes to it.

NetEase Games did not comment on Marvel Rivals' Seasonal Bonus feature, though many fans are expecting to see some heroes lose their bonuses while others gain new boons. The feature has proven to be somewhat controversial, as many players believe the game's balance would be better without it. Season 1 of Marvel Rivals seems to be packed with new content and updates, and many players have already expressed excitement about jumping into the new season at launch.
