Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has unveiled the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct, scheduled for January 23rd. This marks the third annual event, kicking off the 2025 Xbox game showcase season. Following the successful January 2023 and 2024 events, this year's showcase will begin at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT. Rumors circulating as early as January 9th predicted this announcement.

  • Date: January 23rd, 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT
  • Platforms: YouTube and Twitch
  • Confirmed Games: Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Doom: The Dark Ages, and South of Midnight

Spotlight on Confirmed Titles:

The showcase will feature three confirmed titles:

  • South of Midnight: This stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (creators of Contrast and We Happy Few) was initially announced in June 2023. A release date is anticipated.

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), targeting a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.

  • Doom: The Dark Ages: From id Software, this title, announced in June 2024, had a playable demo at QuakeCon 2024 and is rumored for a mid-2025 launch.

Beyond the Confirmed Lineup:

While these three games are confirmed, previous Developer Directs (lasting over 40 minutes each) showcased multiple titles. The 2024 event featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. Expect potential surprises in the 2025 event.
