Following the release of Dynasty Warriors: Origins, Koei Tecmo is launching another exciting title, Warriors: Abyss, today. This new roguelite puts a fresh twist on the beloved musou genre, featuring familiar faces from the Warriors series.
Showcased during today's PlayStation State of Play, Warriors: Abyss allows players to assemble a squad of iconic characters and battle through relentless waves of enemies. The game boasts an isometric perspective, reminiscent of both Diablo and the acclaimed roguelite, Hades.
Gameplay footage revealed a team-based approach to combating the forces of "hell," facing demonic adversaries. The trailer showcased a diverse roster including Zhou Yu, Nobunaga Oda, and Sun Shang Xiang, among others from the Warriors franchise.
According to the PlayStation Blog, players can recruit and add characters to their team, unlocking unique summoning abilities. Battles utilize up to seven active heroes, with a launch roster of 100 warriors.Koei Tecmo plans to expand the character roster post-launch, beginning with characters from the Jin kingdom in Dynasty Warriors. Further additions are teased, hinting at the possibility of characters from outside the Warriors series joining the fray.
Warriors: Abyss is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. A Nintendo Switch release is scheduled for February 13, 2025. Players who purchase the game before March 14, 2025, will receive an in-game Dynasty Warriors Costume Set.
