Welcome back to our update series "How is Ubisoft today?" Amidst the ongoing challenges faced by Ubisoft's upper management, there's finally a silver lining to report. One persistent issue that has been a thorn in the side of many gamers has now been resolved.
Ubisoft has successfully addressed the compatibility issues that plagued several of its Assassin’s Creed titles following the 24H2 update for Windows 11. Since the fall of 2024, games like Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, along with other Ubisoft titles, were experiencing significant performance issues on the new operating system. The resolution came in the form of new patches, which were announced on the Steam pages for Origins and Valhalla.
The gaming community has responded positively to these updates, expressing gratitude to Ubisoft for the long-awaited fix. Interestingly, the comments under the patch notes reflect a rare moment of non-criticism towards Ubisoft, with many acknowledging that the root of the problem was with Windows, not the game developer. Despite this, the recent reviews for both games are still categorized as “Mixed.”
Looking forward, there is optimism surrounding the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Its launch, now rescheduled for March 20, has been postponed to allow Ubisoft to enhance the game's quality. This move is seen as crucial, as the success of Assassin’s Creed Shadows could very well shape the future trajectory of the company.
