Live-Action ‘Driver’ Series Canceled
Ubisoft Remains Committed to Future Driver Projects
Ubisoft has officially confirmed to Game File that the planned live-action adaptation of its acclaimed Driver racing game series will not proceed. Initially announced in 2021, the series was slated for exclusive streaming on Binge.com. Ubisoft Film & Television head Danielle Kreinik stated at the time that the project was part of Ubisoft's broader initiative "to bring our games to life in new and exciting ways and create content set in the world, culture, and community of gaming."
However, the partnership with Binge has ended due to the closure of Hotrod Tanner LLC, a movie-related subsidiary named after the Driver protagonist, in January. A Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed to Game File, "We are no longer moving forward with our partnership with Binge for a Driver series."
Despite this setback, Ubisoft has emphasized its continued commitment to the Driver franchise, stating that it is "actively working on other exciting projects related to the franchise" and promising further announcements in the future. Specific details regarding these new projects remain undisclosed, but fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates.
