In a strategic move to enhance the gameplay experience and boost the popularity of certain characters, NetEase Games introduced significant balance adjustments to the heroes of Marvel Rivals in January, marking the onset of Season 1. These changes have notably elevated the status of previously underplayed characters like Storm and Black Widow.
Following the updates, Storm has undergone substantial enhancements, resulting in a remarkable surge in her popularity and effectiveness. According to Rivals Meta, she now holds the top spot in win rate, a significant leap from her former position on the hero selection list. In competitive mode, Storm's win percentage has soared to over 56%, and her pick rate has impressively climbed to 16%. This is a stark contrast to her previous performance where she struggled to achieve even a 1% pick rate. Storm now surpasses well-known heroes such as Adam Warlock, Jeff, Spider-Man, Hela, Hulk, Magic, Iron Man, among others.
Despite Storm's rise, the most favored character pairing of the first season remains Cloak and Dagger. However, their win percentage has dipped below 49%. On the other hand, Black Widow continues to be the least popular and least successful character in the game.
Marvel Rivals is currently witnessing growth, with hundreds of thousands of players engaging in its competitive mode. Attaining the prestigious Grandmaster title remains an elusive goal, achieved by only 0.1% of players, despite the existence of the Celestial rank. Reaching such heights is challenging, but one player has achieved a truly astonishing feat. In the first season, this player reached Grandmaster without taking any damage across 108 games, focusing solely on healing teammates while playing as Rocket Raccoon. They managed to restore over 2.9 million health points and recorded nearly 3,500 assists while avoiding any knockouts.
