Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Receives Final Major Update, Ending Live Service Support
Rocksteady Studios has released the final major content update for its live-service title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Season 4 Episode 8, titled "Balance," is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This marks the end of new content development for the game, though online features will remain active.
Launched in February 2024 to mixed reception, the game's live-service model contributed significantly to its relatively short lifespan. Announced on December 9th, 2024, the decision to cease support after only 10 months came as little surprise. Rocksteady confirmed that all online functionalities will persist, allowing players to continue enjoying the game's co-op experience.
Season 4 Episode 8 introduces substantial new content, including:
- Libra Infamy Set: A high-risk, high-reward set inspired by the DC Super-Villain Libra, manipulating damage dealt and received by enemies.
- Notorious Weapons: New weapons, such as The Silencer's Complete Silence (offering significant damage boosts and crowd control) and Doctor Sivana’s Magic Bullets (piercing and electrifying enemies), add exciting new combat options. Chronos’ Equilibrium further enhances aggressive playstyles.
- New Mayhem Mission: A final showdown against Brainiac concludes the story arc.
- Gameplay Improvements: Reduced XP requirements for Squad Levels (with retroactive rewards), and adjustments to Deathstroke's Suicide Strike.
- Extensive Bug Fixes: Addressing numerous issues across gameplay, UI, audio, and more.
The December 2024 Season 4 Episode 7 update introduced offline play, allowing players to experience the main campaign and seasonal missions without an internet connection. While Rocksteady hasn't announced a server shutdown, this offline mode ensures continued access to the game's content even if servers are eventually taken offline.
For those yet to experience the game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is currently available on PlayStation Plus until February 3rd, alongside The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered.
