Stellar Mercenaries has just launched its highly anticipated Jupiter Expansion, significantly enhancing the game's scope and content. This update nearly doubles the game's offerings with new worlds, enemies, and missions for players to explore.
For those unfamiliar, Stellar Mercenaries is a thrilling vertical-scrolling action arcade space shooter where you undertake procedurally generated missions, customize your ships and weapons, and strive to become the most feared mercenary in the solar system.
What's New in the Jupiter Expansion of Stellar Mercenaries?
The Jupiter Expansion transforms Jupiter and its moons—Ganymede, Io, and Europa—into battlegrounds, each presenting unique challenges. Ganymede is a barren wasteland, Io is covered in volcanic debris, and Europa is a frozen, treacherous landscape, while Jupiter itself is notorious for its stormy atmosphere.
The expansion introduces two new factions: the Jovian Empire, a formidable military force aiming to control the region, and the Pirate Council, a chaotic alliance of outlaws.
Players can dive into 50 new missions featuring varied objectives, including hyperspace hunting to track elusive targets, piracy missions, escort duties, and train defense operations.
The update also adds six new ships to your fleet: the Raider, Goblin, Mako, Boxer, Lightning, and Skybreaker. Additionally, you can arm yourself with new weapons like the Hyper Velocity Mortar, Plasma Seeker, EMP Rockets, Mauler Cannon, Electron Beam, and Neutron Beam.
New Hazards, Shields, and More
The Jupiter Expansion doesn't stop at new territories and missions; it also introduces Tier 4 shields and armor, enhancing your defensive capabilities. New hazards to navigate include asteroid fields, elite enemy squadrons, and the formidable Pacifier. Some enemy mercenaries have also leveled up, with the introduction of new classes such as Nightmare, Riot, and Warhawk.
To complement the expanded gameplay, the update includes 14 new music tracks and introduces a new side mission system, adding depth and variety to your mercenary adventures.
