While details remain scarce—the Star Wars era and specific gameplay mechanics are yet to be revealed—the involvement of XCOM developers strongly suggests a similar tactical experience, infused with the rich Star Wars universe.
Respawn Entertainment, also working on the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi trilogy, will not be present at this year's Star Wars Celebration. However, it's worth noting that Respawn previously canceled an unannounced first-person shooter featuring a Mandalorian protagonist, and more recently, a multiplayer first-person shooter incubation project, resulting in job losses.
Other highlights at Star Wars Celebration include a sneak peek at The Mandalorian & Grogu movie (May 2026 release) and a first look at Star Wars: Visions Volume 3.
