Shrek 5 has unveiled its new cast and a teaser trailer, prompting even Movie Sonic to offer styling advice.
In a humorous TikTok video, the official Sonic Movie account shared a "green ogre makeover" guide, juxtaposing Sonic's initial controversial live-action design with his later, well-received redesign.

IGN's exclusive first look at the 2018 live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie sparked mixed reactions, with fans focusing on the character's unusual teeth, physique, small eyes, and human-like fingers. Director Jeff Fowler subsequently redesigned the character, a change that was much better received.
While the response to Shrek's new look isn't as overwhelmingly negative as Sonic's initial design, Sonic's playful advice has amused fans. Comments include, "You know it's bad when you see the Sonic Movie account giving Shrek 5 advice," and "No way they actually posted this 😭".
Initially announced in 2016, Shrek 5's development was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination, in 2023, alongside plans for a Donkey spin-off. Universal Pictures shifted Shrek 5's release date to December 23, 2026, moving Minions 3 to fill its original slot.
