Will Wright, the mastermind behind The Sims, recently unveiled more details about his ambitious new AI-powered life simulation game, Proxi, during a Twitch livestream. This innovative title, initially announced in 2018, is finally taking shape, offering players a deeply personal gaming experience.
A Game Forged From Memories
Developed by Gallium Studio, Proxi is designed to be an interactive exploration of the player's own memories. Players input personal recollections in paragraph form, and the game transforms these narratives into animated scenes. These scenes are customizable, allowing players to refine the visual representation of their memories using in-game assets.
Each new memory, termed a "mem," enhances the game's AI, populating a unique 3D "mind world" composed of interconnected hexagons. As the mind world expands, so does its population of Proxies – digital representations of friends and family, each linked to associated memories. The timeline is flexible, allowing players to arrange and connect memories to different Proxies, creating a dynamic and personal narrative. Furthermore, Proxies can even be exported to other game environments like Minecraft and Roblox!
The core goal of Proxi is to create "magical connections" with memories, bringing them vividly to life. Wright emphasized the game's focus on personalized experiences, stating, "I found myself getting continuously closer and closer to the player...the more I can make a game about you, the more you'll like it."
Proxi is now featured on Gallium Studio's official website, with platform announcements expected soon.
