As we approach the end of January and the year starts to unfold, fans of Pokémon TCG Pocket have a reason to celebrate. The much-anticipated trading feature has finally launched, coinciding with the release of a major new expansion, Space-Time Smackdown!
Let's delve into how the trading feature works. It enables you to exchange cards with friends, mimicking real-life trading experiences. However, there are some limitations to keep in mind: only cards of certain rarities (1-4 and 1-star) can be traded, and you'll need resources like trade hourglasses and trade tokens to make exchanges. Despite these restrictions, it's a significant enhancement to the game.
But that's not all! The Space-Time Smackdown expansion introduces iconic legendary Pokémon, Diagla and Palkia, to TCG Pocket. Alongside them, you'll find the Sinnoh region starters Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, plus a host of other exciting additions!

Despite the excitement, the trading feature hasn't been universally welcomed. Some players have expressed disappointment, likely due to the numerous caveats attached to trading. While I believe the feature is a valuable addition, the restrictions on card rarities and the need for resources could be seen as drawbacks. Ideally, Pokémon TCG Pocket might have been better served by either omitting trading entirely or simplifying it without the need for resources or limitations on which cards can be traded. Fortunately, the developers are reportedly monitoring feedback closely, hinting at potential future adjustments.
