Pokémon GO Celebrates 8th Anniversary with Exciting Content and Rewards

Pokémon GO's 8th Anniversary is upon us! Get ready for a week-long celebration starting Friday, June 28th, at 10:00 a.m. and lasting until Wednesday, July 3rd, at 8:00 p.m. Expect exciting new Pokémon debuts, boosted event bonuses, and enhanced raid and trading opportunities.

Here's a glimpse of the festivities:

Prepare for new costumed Pokémon! Party-hat-wearing Grimer and Muk will make appearances, with a chance to encounter a Shiny Grimer. Meltan also makes a shiny return via the Mystery Box.

Friendship will flourish! During the anniversary, you'll have increased odds of becoming Lucky Friends and obtaining Lucky Pokémon through trades. Friendship levels will increase rapidly through gift opening, trading, and battling. You might even discover 8 or 88 Gimmighoul Coins when spinning PokéStops with a Golden Lure Module.

Special bonuses abound! Enjoy half Egg Hatch Distance (June 28th-29th), double XP for catching Pokémon (June 30th-July 1st), and double Stardust for catches (July 2nd-July 3rd).

One-star raids will offer increased Shiny chances for the festively attired Pokémon. Event-themed field research tasks will reward encounters with partner Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Cyndaquil, Mudkip, and others. Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, Sceptile, Blaziken, and Swampert will also be available.
