Universal Pictures has unveiled the first look at Christopher Nolan's upcoming film, The Odyssey, starring Hollywood A-lister Matt Damon as Odysseus. Following the phenomenal success of 2023's Oppenheimer, Nolan's new project reimagines the classic Ancient Greek epic poem, originally penned in the 8th or 7th century BC. The film is slated for release on July 17, 2026.

Here's the official synopsis:
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is a mythic action epic, filmed globally using groundbreaking IMAX film technology. For the first time ever, Homer's seminal saga comes to IMAX screens, opening in theaters worldwide on July 17, 2026.
The Odyssey chronicles the arduous ten-year journey of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, as he strives to return home after the Trojan War. While Universal has yet to divulge further details, reports suggest an impressive ensemble cast.
Matt Damon, who was among the first actors reportedly attached to the project, reunites with Universal after his acclaimed role in 2023's Oppenheimer, a seven-time Academy Award winner (including Best Picture and Best Director). He may be joined by a stellar lineup including Charlize Theron, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong'o, and Robert Pattinson.
