Genki at CES 2025: A Closer Look at the Nintendo Switch 2 Mockup
Genki, renowned for its handheld gaming accessories, unveiled a 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup at CES 2025, revealing intriguing details about the upcoming console. This model, reportedly based on a black market acquisition, accurately reflects the Switch 2's dimensions, showcasing key design changes.
The mockup highlighted a larger form factor, approaching the size of Valve's Steam Deck. Most striking were the seemingly magnetic Joy-Con controllers, a second USB-C port, and an enigmatic "C" button.
Genki CEO Eddie Tsai confirmed key features in an interview with The Verge. The Joy-Con's SL and SR buttons utilize magnets, detached by a button-activated pin mechanism. Despite this change from the original Switch's sliding rails, Tsai assures users of a secure connection during gameplay.

Further revelations include optical sensors integrated into each Joy-Con's mounting channel. This suggests potential functionality as a mouse, possibly via a new magnetic accessory. Leaked Switch 2 images appear to corroborate this, showing what seem to be optical sensors.
Interestingly, while the Switch 2's increased size still allows it to physically fit within the current Switch dock, structural differences prevent compatibility. The purpose of the extra USB-C port and the "C" button remain a mystery, even to Genki.
