From the trailer, it's evident that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be larger in every dimension compared to its predecessor. The screen, Joy-Cons, and control sticks are all slightly bigger. While exact specifications remain undisclosed, rumors suggest the following dimensions for the Switch 2: height — 116 mm, width — 270 mm, thickness — 14 mm. This makes it 3.1 cm wider and 1.4 cm taller than the original Nintendo Switch. Additionally, it's rumored to feature an 8-inch screen, compared to the 7-inch screen of the OLED version of the first Switch.

Design
The video presentation introduces a new design for the Joy-Cons, which are now magnetic and attach to the console via two recessed contacts in the body. Insiders reassure that these contacts are robust and well-protected within the console's frame, making them resistant to damage. The SL and SR buttons have also been upgraded to larger, metallic versions with strong magnets to prevent accidental detachment. However, this design necessitates bezels on the sides of the screen.

The video also reveals a new mechanism for the Joy-Con holders, which now insert from the sides rather than the top. The buttons on the Joy-Cons have been slightly enlarged, and the sticks are rumored to feature Hall effect sensors, reducing the risk of drift. Notably, the IR camera has been removed, potentially affecting backward compatibility with games like Ring Fit Adventure.

The top bezel of the console includes a microphone and a USB Type-C port, which may enable direct connection to wired joysticks and voice chat functionality. More details on their use are expected soon.
What's inside?
While we await the full specifications to be unveiled at the Nintendo Direct on April 2, rumors suggest that the Switch 2's performance will be comparable to that of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There's speculation about support for Quad HD resolution in docked mode, and the expected specs include a custom Nvidia Tegra T239 processor, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, and support for various microSD card types. The screen is rumored to be an 8-inch LCD, and while an OLED version isn't expected at launch, the console is poised to run many AAA titles, including a potential port of Genshin Impact.
