Player First Games has announced that MultiVersus Season 5 will mark the end of the Warner Bros. platform fighting game, with its final curtain call set for May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. In a heartfelt blog post on their website, the studio disclosed their decision to cease support for the crossover brawler. MultiVersus, which made its debut on May 28 of last year, is gearing up for its final season starting next week on February 4, which will run until the scheduled end date in May 2025. At that point, online play will be discontinued, but Player First has assured fans that all earned and purchased content will remain accessible offline through local gameplay and training modes.
Expressing their gratitude, the MultiVersus team shared, “Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus. All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”

Player First has also confirmed that real-money transactions for MultiVersus have been disabled as of today, but players can still utilize Gleamium and character tokens to acquire in-game content until the support ends on May 30. Additionally, MultiVersus will be removed from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store at that time.
The termination of MultiVersus comes in the wake of reports labeling the project as a significant disappointment for Warner Bros. Discovery. During a financial call in November, the company revealed that MultiVersus fell short of expectations, leading to a $100 million writedown in its gaming division. This added to a total of $300 million in losses following the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in January. Last week, Variety reported that Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad would be stepping down after a challenging 2024.
"We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline,” stated chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels during the November call.
Despite the imminent closure just days after its one-year anniversary, Season 5 promises to end MultiVersus on a high note. Alongside the typical seasonal updates, new characters Lola Bunny and Aquaman will join the roster. Lola Bunny, an icon from Looney Toons, will be unlockable as a daily calendar reward, while the DC superhero Aquaman will be available through the battle pass, both starting next week.
