Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic video game. The first game drop of the year, named "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25. This update aims to enhance the Overworld, making biomes feel more immersive and alive. Players can look forward to new variants of classic mobs such as cows, pigs, and chickens, along with new ambient features like the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and whispers of sand, providing more reasons to explore this vibrant world.
The second game drop, though yet to be named, promises intriguing additions to the Minecraft universe. A new block, the Dried Ghast, can be rehydrated to transform into a Ghastling, a baby ghast. With care, this Ghastling can evolve into a Happy Ghast. Players can then craft a Ghast harness, allowing up to four players to fly on the Happy Ghast, offering a unique mode of transportation and an exciting new way to explore the game's vast landscapes.
Mojang also announced a significant visual upgrade titled 'Vibrant Visuals,' which aims to enhance the visual experience of Minecraft without altering gameplay. For more details on this upgrade, check out IGN's dedicated article and visuals comparison video.
In other news, Mojang shared an exclusive clip from the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event starting on March 25. This event, set in Midport Village, will see players teaming up with Steve and his movie companions to defend the village from a piglin attack through three engaging mini-games. The event runs from March 25 to April 7, and completing all challenges rewards players with the Yearn cape.
Additionally, Mojang provided insights into their development philosophy during our visit to their offices in Sweden. They confirmed no plans for a Minecraft 2, no intention to make the game free-to-play, and no use of generative AI in game development, ensuring the game's unique charm and player experience remain intact.
