Developed by California-based Second Dinner and published by ByteDance subsidiary Nuverse, Marvel Snap was unexpectedly removed from iOS and Android platforms on January 18, 2025, alongside other ByteDance apps like CapCut and Lemon8. This sudden ban has left many players frustrated, particularly due to the lack of prior warning and continued in-app purchases made before the lockout. While PC users can still access the game via Steam, the situation has sparked widespread complaints regarding authorization issues.
Second Dinner has publicly expressed surprise and is actively working to restore Marvel Snap's availability. An official statement on Platform X assures players: “Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.”
Interestingly, not all ByteDance apps were affected. Games like Ragnarok X: 3rd Anniversary and Earth: Revival - Deep Underground remain playable.
Recently, we discussed the addition of the new card, Moonstone, to Marvel Snap. This powerful Ongoing card (4/6) copies the Ongoing effects of your 1, 2, and 3-cost cards in its lane. Given the current abundance of low-cost Ongoing cards, like Ant-Man and U.S. Agent, Moonstone quickly gains significant power by leveraging these effects without additional cost, potentially shaking up the current meta.
