NetEase Games has announced a ban on keyboard and mouse adapters in Marvel Rivals on PS5 and Xbox Series consoles. Using adapters like XIM, Cronus Zen, Titan Two, KeyMander, and Brook Sniper, which simulate gamepad controls with keyboard and mouse input, is considered a violation of the game's rules. This is due to the unfair advantage these devices provide, particularly the increased control sensitivity and retention of aiming assistance, especially in competitive modes where auto-targeting is active.
NetEase's statement clarifies that any device or program emulating gamepad control with a keyboard and mouse is prohibited, creating an imbalance in gameplay. The company employs detection tools to identify adapter use with high accuracy, resulting in account bans upon detection.
Separately, a correlation has been observed between higher FPS and increased ping in Marvel Rivals. While the impact may be less noticeable with low ping, a significant jump (e.g., from 90ms to 150ms) can severely affect gameplay. This issue appears linked to frame rate. Currently, players are advised to experiment to find an optimal FPS/ping ratio, with some suggesting maintaining an FPS around 90 as a temporary solution. This is a workaround until a patch addresses the underlying issue.
