Longvinter, after a three-year journey through early access on Steam, has finally reached its 1.0 release! This milestone update, incorporating extensive player feedback and bug fixes, delivers a revitalized experience for both veterans and newcomers.
The star of this update is the addition of oil rigs scattered across the archipelago. Players can now extract oil, refine it into fuel, and engage in intense battles against LRI mercenaries controlling vital supply lines. Adding to the excitement are new dynamic events, including helicopter crashes yielding valuable tactical gear and an hourly underground arena offering lucrative rewards for combatants.
The game world itself has expanded, teeming with new wildlife. Lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and even goats now roam the landscape, all tamable as mounts, adding a new dimension to exploration and traversal. A wealth of new items has also been introduced, ranging from stat-boosting hats and combat vests to an array of weapons, explosives, and even kitchen recipes. Building and decorating options have been significantly enhanced with additions like oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. The update also includes a comprehensive weapon rebalancing.
Looking towards the future, the upcoming 1.1 update promises even more exciting features, including farming mechanics, a streamlined tutorial for new players, apartment rentals, and the ability to create and join shared communities. Furthermore, Longvinter's journey will continue with a PlayStation launch planned for 2026, bringing the game to a wider audience.
