Akupara Games and Tmesis Studio have unleashed their latest adventure, Universe for Sale, a captivating title following their successful releases like The Darkside Detective series and Zoeti earlier this year.
Is the Universe Really for Sale?
Set on a bizarre, acid-rain-soaked space station orbiting Jupiter, Universe for Sale plunges you into a world teeming with eccentric characters and intriguing mysteries. Orangutans with surprisingly sharp wit run the docks, while cultists barter flesh for enlightenment—it's a place where the strange is commonplace. The universe itself is on the market, thanks to Lila, a woman with the extraordinary ability to create entire universes from the palm of her hand.
The game begins in the ramshackle shantytown of a mining colony, where you play as the Master, a skeletal cultist from the Cult of Detachment—a character both unsettling and strangely compelling. Exploring the rickety tea shops and other peculiar establishments, you eventually stumble upon Honin's Tea House, Lila's shop, and the mystery surrounding her slowly unfolds as you shift between her perspective and the Master's throughout the game.
Playing as Lila allows you to engage in a captivating mini-game: universe creation. Mix and match ingredients to craft mesmerizing visual worlds. Meanwhile, the Master's journey delves into the philosophies of the Cult of Detachment and encounters with the Church of Many Gods.
The narrative unfolds gradually, inviting players to theorize about the underlying mysteries. Every character, be it human, skeletal, or robotic, possesses a unique story, and the richly detailed world encourages exploration of every nook and cranny.
