How to Romance a Character in Fields of Mistria
While you can forge friendships with nearly everyone in *Fields of Mistria*, romance is reserved for a select group of NPCs. With the v0.13.0 update, you have the option to pursue romance with 11 different characters, including the intriguing Caldarus.
Each romanceable NPC has a heart meter that fills based on your interactions. To build a romantic connection, engage with them regularly and pay close attention to their preferences. Start by **talking to them daily**—a simple chat can significantly boost your relationship. Additionally, complete any requests they post on the town board, as this provides more opportunities to increase their heart gauge.
You can also **give them a gift once per day**, ideally something they particularly enjoy. These items vary by character and can be gathered or crafted. On their birthday, make sure to gift them something they love, which will give an extra boost to their heart gauge. Consistent effort in these areas will help you quickly increase their affection.
Keep in mind that currently, NPC heart gauges can only reach **six hearts**. After reaching this level, a cutscene will hint at a budding romance, but it won't be fully realized yet. According to the game's roadmap, future updates will introduce 8 and 10-heart events, along with options for marriage and children, ensuring your romantic journey in Mistria continues to evolve.

Juniper, a romanceable character in *Fields of Mistria*, is often seen searching for unusual witchcraft ingredients. You can find her at the bathhouse she manages in the northeastern part of town. To romance Juniper, focus on visiting her, fulfilling her town board requests, and giving her thoughtful daily gifts.
Juniper has a range of items she "likes" and "loves." Her birthday falls on the **26th day of Fall**, so make sure to give her a "loved" item on that day for an extra boost to her heart gauge. Avoid giving her items she dislikes, which include all universal dislikes and **Sod**. You can monitor her heart gauge status in your journal under the heart icon tab.
