Godzilla's rampage shifts from Tokyo to the United States in IDW Publishing and Toho's new series, Godzilla vs. America. Following the Chicago installment, the series continues with Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, a four-story anthology showcasing Godzilla's attack on the City of Angels.
The creative team behind this April release includes Gabriel Hardman, J. Gonzo, Dave Baker, and Nicole Goux, bringing their talents to depict Godzilla's destruction of iconic Los Angeles locations.
Acknowledging the sensitive timing given recent devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area, IDW has announced that all proceeds from Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1 will be donated to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (Binc), supporting bookstores and comic shops affected by the fires. The publisher released a statement emphasizing their commitment to community support and explaining that the comic's themes, while unintentionally mirroring current events, explore the human condition in the face of catastrophic events. The statement also clarifies that the comic's development began long before the wildfires.
Associate editor Nicolas Niño shared his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the diverse stories featuring Angelenos uniting against Godzilla, including battles against giant lowrider mechs and the unexpected inclusion of an LA subway system pamphlet. He emphasized the project's intent to celebrate Los Angeles' resilience.
Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1 will be released on April 30, 2025, with final orders due March 24. For further information on upcoming comic releases, explore previews for Marvel and DC's 2025 offerings.
