A new game from the creators of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow has been announced

MercurySteam, the Spanish studio behind acclaimed titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has revealed its latest creation: Blades of Fire, an action-RPG. Partnering with 505 Games, this dark fantasy adventure plunges players into a world teeming with enigmatic races and formidable creatures.

The debut trailer highlights dynamic hack-and-slash combat, a distinctive visual aesthetic, and a brooding, atmospheric environment. Gameplay and art style echo elements of Lords of Shadow, while environmental and enemy design draw inspiration from Darksiders. Intriguingly, the trailer features a mechanical bird, suggesting a significant role in traversing the game world.

Leveraging MercurySteam's in-house Mercury Engine, Blades of Fire aims to sidestep the optimization challenges frequently associated with Unreal Engine 5 projects.

Blades of Fire is slated for release on May 22, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Epic Games Store).
