Dynasty Warriors: Origins lacks a dedicated sprint button; your character automatically sprints after a few running steps. While sprinting is efficient for short distances, traversing large battlefields to rescue officers often requires a faster method.
This is where your mount comes in, summonable at any time during overworld exploration or combat. You can even engage in combat while mounted, favoring swift hit-and-run tactics. Below, we detail acquiring your first mount, leveling it up, and switching between different mounts.
How To Unlock Your First Mount in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your initial mount is a free gift! After completing the second major battle, "Test Of Zheng Fei," a merchant appears in the overworld. You'll likely encounter him on your way to the Battle Of Guangzong. He's located northeast of Wan Castle, before reaching the camp. Simply speak to him to receive your mount, which will be automatically equipped.
Summon your mount by pressing down on the left joystick (console) or V (keyboard).
How To Increase Your Mount's Level in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Your mount gains experience points (XP) based on completed missions, even if you don't actively ride it. XP is awarded for missions and main story battles, but not skirmishes. Missions are indicated by a red diamond with a soldier icon. The XP earned depends on battle duration and how much you utilize your mount, especially when charging into enemies. Leveling up unlocks unique buffs for each mount at specific intervals.
How To Change Mounts in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
While your first mount is automatically equipped, others become available. Manage your mounts in the Battle Preparation menu; it's the last option on the left. Each mount boasts unique advantages, with some offering superior speed and performance. Consider switching to optimize your strategy. New mounts are rewarded for achieving maximum regional peace; they'll be found near a nearby waypoint.
