The team behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the popular Dark and Darker, has officially announced the cessation of support for the game and the impending closure of its servers. Despite its initial promise, the project, which lasted less than a year, struggled to maintain player engagement due to consistently low player activity and a noticeable absence of significant updates.
Although Dungeonborne's page on Steam remains accessible, it has been removed from the platform's search results and can now only be accessed through a direct link. While the developers have not officially disclosed the reasons for the shutdown, it is evident that the game's extremely low player count was a significant factor. From late 2024 onwards, Dungeonborne never managed to attract more than 200 concurrent players, with recent activity dwindling to just 10-15 players at a time.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled to be permanently shut down on May 28, signaling the end of the game's journey. What began with enthusiasm and interest among fans of the genre will ultimately fade into obscurity, unable to fulfill its initial potential.
