Capcom Unveils Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster: A Zombie Classic Returns
Nearly a decade after the release of Dead Rising 4 in 2016, Capcom has announced a remastered version of the original Dead Rising game. Following the mixed reception of Dead Rising 4, and the success of the Resident Evil remakes, the series has been relatively dormant. The original Dead Rising, initially an Xbox 360 exclusive, received an enhanced version in 2016, but this new remaster, titled Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, promises even better performance and visuals.
A brief 40-second YouTube trailer showcased the game's iconic opening sequence, featuring protagonist Frank West's dramatic helicopter jump into a zombie-infested mall. While platform details and a release date remain unannounced, a launch later this year is highly anticipated.
The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster announcement sparks speculation about potential remasters of the sequels. Given Capcom's apparent focus on remastering rather than completely rebuilding the games, mirroring the success of their Resident Evil remakes, the likelihood of full-scale remakes seems low. However, this doesn't rule out the possibility of a future Dead Rising 5.
2024 has already seen a surge in popular remasters and remakes, including titles like Persona 3 Reload, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster. Should Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster arrive this year, it would join other Xbox 360-era remasters such as Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and Lollipop Chainsaw: RePOP, further solidifying the trend.
