Speak with Casper and Havel
The quest "In Vino Veritas" kicks off with Casper Rudolf, whom you'll find by his drink cart on the east side of Kuttenberg City. Just enter through the east gate and head straight to bump into him. Casper is keen to uncover the secret behind the monks’ superior wine, but you've got to follow several steps to get there. Make sure to exhaust all dialogue options with Casper to learn about Havel and the book he entrusted to Adleta. This information provides you with different approaches to making an impression on Havel.
If you decide to retrieve the book from Adleta, head to the southeast corner of Kuttenberg’s inner wall during the morning or afternoon. You'll find an open garden where Adleta spends her time. Before heading there, pick five Marigolds. Try to find Adleta before her brother, Hugo, arrives, or if Hugo is already there, get his permission to speak with her. Be kind to Adleta as you explain your need for the book for Casper. You can attempt a skill check to convince her to hand it over, or offer the Marigolds as a gift to secure the book. Once you have it, make sure to read it from your inventory.
Alternatively, you can bypass Adleta and head directly to Havel at his inn in Kuttenberg City. Make sure your Charisma is at least 18 by choosing the right outfit and brushing up on your drinking skills. When you talk to Havel, select these options to make a good impression and learn about the monastery's secret ingredient:
- Germany. Let’s do it.
- That’s a very fine gift.
- Steinberger.
- It’s missing ginger.
With this information, return to Casper and share your findings.
Find the Monastery’s Secret Ingredient
Next, head to the vineyard north of Kuttenberg and speak with the recruiter to initiate the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest. While you don't need to complete this side quest, starting it allows you to explore the vineyard without being considered a trespasser. Inside, find Jerome, usually sitting on a bench near the main building.
Sneak into the main building, turn left, and head to the storeroom. Use your lockpicking skills to open the chests and find the Sulphur Wicks, which are what Casper needs. For extra Groschen, visit the garden behind the main building and collect five seedlings before you leave.
If you choose to complete "Under the Straw Hat," engage in tasks like removing plants around the vines and moving sacks. Once you've done enough work, report back to Jerome to finish the side quest and earn some Groschen. Otherwise, return to Casper with the Sulphur Wicks and seedlings, if you've collected them.
Completing "In Vino Veritas" allows you to progress to other quests in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, or you might prefer to spend time collecting badges and dice instead.
