After a remarkable 25-year hiatus, Capcom's cherished RPG, Breath of Fire IV, has made a triumphant return to PC gaming. Originally gracing the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, and reaching Europe in 2001, the game saw its first PC release in Europe and Japan in 2003. The story follows Ryu, a protagonist distinct from Capcom's other famous Ryu, who possesses the unique ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a band of warriors, he embarks on a quest to thwart an emperor's destructive ambitions.
Thanks to GOG's ongoing Preservation Program, Breath of Fire IV has been meticulously updated for today's PCs and is now available DRM-free on their platform. This enhanced edition boasts full optimization for modern systems, ensuring seamless compatibility with Windows 10 and 11. It offers both English and Japanese localizations, alongside upgraded graphics facilitated by an advanced DirectX renderer. Players can now enjoy new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and enhanced gamma correction for superior visuals. Additionally, the audio experience has been enriched with the restoration of missing environmental sounds and the introduction of new configuration options.
