The highly anticipated God of War TV series from Amazon has already been greenlit for two seasons even before its premiere, as announced by the showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Moore stepped in to lead the project after the exit of former showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent chat with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow alum from Battlestar Galactica, Moore shed some light on his new venture.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, a major title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of, and they've asked me to come in," Moore shared. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite not being a seasoned gamer, Moore admits to enjoying classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggle with modern gaming controls, stating, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."
For the God of War series, Moore has taken on multiple roles as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. His previous credits include working on iconic shows like Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and leading the acclaimed 2000s reboot of Battlestar Galactica.
Although some members of the original team have departed, Sony's Cory Barlog continues to serve as an executive producer. The series will be based on the critically acclaimed 2018 God of War game, though many details remain undisclosed at this stage.
Amazon's swift renewals of other video game adaptations like the Fallout TV show and Secret Level, following their successful launches, suggest a positive outlook for God of War's future on the streaming platform.
