Squid Game: Unleashed is getting a major content drop to celebrate the release of season two! Expect new characters, a new map, and exciting challenges. Plus, you can earn exclusive in-game rewards just by watching the new episodes on Netflix!
Netflix's surprising decision to offer Squid Game: Unleashed for free to all players, subscribers and non-subscribers alike, before the holidays, has proven to be a smart move. Now, with this new content update, they're incentivizing viewership of season two with enticing rewards.
So what's in store for players? Starting January 3rd, a new map inspired by the Mingle mini-game from Squid Game season two will launch. Three new playable characters will also debut throughout January: Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and Thanos (the rapper, not the Marvel villain).
Geum-Ja and Thanos will each have special in-game unlock events on January 3rd and 9th respectively. And for those watching the show, there are additional rewards! Watching episodes of Squid Game season two will earn you in-game Cash and Wild Tokens. Watching up to seven episodes unlocks the exclusive Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's the January content schedule for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: New Mingle map launches. Geum-Ja's Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event begins (until January 9th), challenging players to complete Mingle-inspired mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos arrives! His recruitment event, Thanos’ Red Light Challenge, starts (until January 14th). Players earn him by eliminating opponents with knives.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the game as the final new character in this update.
Squid Game: Unleashed could represent a significant turning point for Netflix's gaming ambitions. Offering free access was a bold move, but rewarding subscribers while simultaneously encouraging viewership is a clever strategy to boost both the game and the show's success.
