Netflix Games' Squid Game: Unleashed Gets a Release Date
Netflix Games has announced a release date for its upcoming mobile adaptation of the hit show, Squid Game: Unleashed. A new trailer showcases the violent action players can expect.
Squid Game: Unleashed launches on iOS and Android on December 17th.
Netflix's track record with adaptations of its original series is mixed. While some, like the Stranger Things pixel-art adventure, have been successful, others haven't quite resonated with their target audience. However, for fans craving action and violence, Squid Game: Unleashed arriving on December 17th is excellent news!
This multiplayer game pits players against friends and strangers in the iconic, deadly contests from the show, albeit with a more lighthearted approach. Whether this is a positive or negative aspect depends on individual opinions of the original series, but the game clearly aims to leverage the popularity of Hwang Don-hyuk's creation.
Featuring both classic and new scenarios, Squid Game: Unleashed has the potential to be a major hit for Netflix. Its release just before Season 2 of the show (December 26th) is strategic. Pre-registration is available now!
CalamariThe irony of a show about the dehumanization of individuals and the exploitation of their deaths for entertainment being transformed into a multiplayer battle game is undeniable. However, from a purely objective standpoint, it's a logical move. Netflix appears to have recognized the potential of a dedicated multiplayer audience to maintain user engagement, even if some streaming content fails to attract viewers.
In the meantime, consider checking out other new releases. Jack Brassel's positive review of the relaxing gardening simulator, Honey Grove, is worth a look.
