Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Snakelike Mass Outbreak: Increased Shiny Chances!
A special Mass Outbreak event is underway in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, celebrating the Year of the Snake! Until January 12th, trainers can encounter increased numbers of Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper, with boosted Shiny encounter rates.
This event follows the recent Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid, a fitting end to the Year of the Dragon. While Rayquaza is obtainable via the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, the Shiny variant's rarity made the raid event highly valuable.
This new Snakelike Mass Outbreak, confirmed by Serebii.net, began January 9th and concludes January 12th. Silicobra outbreaks are scattered across Paldea, Ekans in Kitakami, and Seviper in the Terarium. Pokemon levels range from 10 to 65, scaling with player progress. To participate, connect to the internet, access the Poke Portal via the in-game menu, and select "Get Poke Portal News."
Snakelike Mass Outbreak Details (January 2025):
- Increased numbers of Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper.
- Elevated Shiny encounter odds (0.5% boost before multipliers).
- Event runs until January 12th.
- Internet connection required.
Shiny hunting can be further optimized with Shiny Sandwiches. For Ekans and Seviper, use a Salty or Spicy Herba Mystica with a Green Bell Pepper. For Silicobra, substitute the pepper with Ham.
The future of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in 2025 remains uncertain, particularly with the anticipated launch of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. The Pokemon Company's plans for the Year of the Snake are yet to be revealed.
