Metro 2033: A Walkthrough for the Cursed Station Mission
Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially after the release of the VR title, Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission in the game's early stages, set within Moscow's subway tunnels. The mission, taking place in the Turgenevskaya station (known as the Cursed Station in-game), often confuses players due to its unclear objectives and labyrinthine layout.
Finding the Bomb
After a previous encounter with a nosalis horde, you'll find yourself at the station with a group of defenders. They'll explain that a bomb squad attempted to collapse a tunnel to stop the nosalis advance, but they've vanished. Your task: find and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is located at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows in the central path, as they'll damage you. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the next step or retreat if needed.
Destroying the Tunnel
To detonate the bomb, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, showing Artyom planting and lighting the fuse. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb will also trigger the tunnel collapse. Note: even after destroying this tunnel, nosalises may still appear from other access points.
Destroying the Airlock
Securing the station requires destroying an additional airlock. Find it by ascending the stairs to the right of the main platform, in the torchlit area. Ignore any nosalises. Interact with the support columns to plant and detonate a pipe bomb. Again, evacuate quickly after lighting the fuse. Once both entrances are sealed, proceed with Khan to the shrine room, leading to the "Armory" mission.
