Tomb Raider's iconic heroine, Lara Croft, is officially joining the cast of Dead by Daylight, Behaviour Interactive has confirmed, ending long-standing speculation. This exciting addition follows the recent Chapter 32: Dungeons & Dragons release and adds another legendary gaming figure to the Survivor roster. The announcement comes on the heels of other notable additions, including Vecna from Stranger Things, Chucky from Child's Play, and Alan Wake.
Lara Croft's Dead by Daylight incarnation, described by the developers as "the ultimate survivor," will be modeled after her appearance in the 2013 Survivor trilogy reboot. She'll be playable on all platforms starting July 16th, with PC players gaining early access via a Steam public test build. While an official release date is set, a gameplay trailer showcasing her unique skills and perks remains unreleased, leaving PC players to be the first to experience her in-game.
Lara Croft's arrival in Dead by Daylight:
Behaviour Interactive also unveiled other exciting news during their 8th-anniversary livestream, including a forthcoming 2v8 mode (two Killers versus eight Survivors), the addition of Frank Stone (a character from Supermassive Games' The Quarry), and a new Castlevania chapter slated for later this year.
The timing of Lara Croft's Dead by Daylight debut is notable, coinciding with renewed interest in the Tomb Raider franchise. Earlier this year, Aspyr released a remastered collection of the original Tomb Raider trilogy (1-3), and Tomb Raider: Legend received a PS5 port (though reception has been mixed). Furthermore, a new animated series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, featuring Hayley Atwell as Lara's voice, is set for an October 2024 release.
