AFK Journey boasts a diverse roster of characters, making it challenging to determine which heroes to prioritize. This tier list helps you navigate this, ranking characters based on versatility, overall performance in PvE, Dream Realm, and PvP. Remember, most characters are viable; this list focuses on optimal performance for endgame content.

S-Tier: Top-Tier Heroes
Lily May, a recent addition, is a must-have Wilder character, excelling in damage and utility. Thoran remains the best F2P tank, while Reinier is a crucial support for both PvE and PvP. Koko, Smokey & Meerky are versatile supports for various game modes, and Odie shines in Dream Realm and PvE. Eironn, with Damien and Arden, forms a dominant Arena team. Tasi, a powerful Wilder crowd control character, is highly versatile. Harak, a strong Hypogean/Celestial warrior, gets progressively stronger throughout battles.
A-Tier: Excellent Choices
Lyca and Vala effectively utilize the Haste stat, significantly boosting attack frequency. Antandra is a solid alternative tank to Thoran. Viperian, excellent with Thoran and Cecia, provides energy-draining abilities and AoE attacks. Alsa is a strong DPS mage, particularly effective with Eironn in PvP. Phraesto, a durable tank, lacks damage output. Ludovic is a strong Graveborn healer, synergizing well with Talene. Cecia, while still a good Marksman, has decreased in value due to meta shifts. Sonja significantly enhances the Lightborne faction.
B-Tier: Solid but Outclassed
B-Tier characters are suitable for filling roles but are ultimately outclassed by higher-tier heroes. Valen and Brutus are strong early-game DPS choices. Granny Dahnie provides decent tanking, debuffs, and healing. Arden and Damien are PvP meta mainstays but less useful in other modes. Florabelle is a decent secondary DPS, but requires significant investment. Soren performs adequately in PvP but lacks effectiveness elsewhere. Korin's Dream Realm performance has diminished.
C-Tier: Early-Game Utility
C-Tier characters are useful early on but quickly become outmatched. Parisa, while possessing a powerful AoE attack, is best replaced as soon as possible. These characters are generally best replaced with higher-tier alternatives.
