Key Features of The House of the Dead 2: Remake

  • Spring 2025 Release: The highly anticipated remake will launch across all major gaming platforms in Spring 2025.

  • A Retro Horror Classic Reimagined: Originally a 1998 Sega arcade hit, The House of the Dead 2 returns with remastered audio, improved graphics, and expanded content.

Forever Entertainment and MegaPixel Studio are bringing back the 1998 horror rail shooter, The House of the Dead 2, in a fully-remade form. This game offered a unique alternative to the popular Resident Evil franchise in the late 90s. Now, modern gamers can experience the updated visuals, enhanced audio, and revamped gameplay of this iconic zombie arcade title.

The original House of the Dead 2, released on Sega arcade cabinets, featured on-rails shooting and hordes of gruesome zombies. A cornerstone of the zombie genre and a highly regarded arcade release, it has seen previous ports to consoles such as the Sega Dreamcast, original Xbox, and Nintendo Wii. This remake promises significant improvements.

The official announcement trailer showcases the modernized graphics and music. Players once again assume the role of a secret agent battling undead hordes to prevent a catastrophic outbreak. The House of the Dead 2: Remake boasts overhauled visuals, remastered audio, and new environments to explore in single-player or co-op modes. Gameplay options include Classic Campaign, Boss Mode, branching levels, and multiple endings.

Platform Availability and Release Date

The House of the Dead 2: Remake will be available on Nintendo Switch, PC (GOG and Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Prepare for high-octane action, bloody mayhem, and combo counters in this authentic retro experience with modern enhancements, including an improved HUD. The game launches Spring 2025.

The recent resurgence of classic horror games, including Resident Evil remakes and the Clock Tower remaster, sets the stage for The House of the Dead 2: Remake. Fans of zombie horror and retro gaming should eagerly anticipate this release and other upcoming revivals.
