Insomniac's Resistance 4 Pitch Rejected

There was a significant effort by Insomniac Games to develop Resistance 4, but unfortunately, the project never received the green light. Insomniac Games founder and outgoing president Ted Price, who is retiring after 30 years at the helm of the studio, recently discussed this in an interview with Kinda Funny Games. When asked about a favorite game pitch that never came to fruition, Price shared, "Yeah, I’ll share one. Resistance 4."

According to Price, the team pitched the concept, which they were passionate about, but due to timing and market opportunities, it didn't work out. He emphasized the team's enthusiasm for extending the story, noting that "Resistance has set up a really cool alternate history base where anything can happen with the Chimera and where they go and what their origins are."

The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac following their work on the Ratchet and Clank games, is a set of first-person shooters set in an alternate history where aliens invade the UK in 1951. The franchise saw three games released exclusively for the PlayStation 3 before Insomniac shifted focus to other projects, including Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.

Earlier this year, Price announced his retirement from Insomniac Games after more than three decades with the company. He has appointed Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang as Co-Studio Heads to succeed him.

Insomniac's latest release, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, has recently been made available on PC, and their next project is the eagerly awaited Marvel’s Wolverine.
